Make Your Best Judgement and Act

I was reading a book the other day, and one of the characters was doubting their decisions – another said “All you can do is make your best judgement and act”. It’s so true. We don’t have the power to see into the future, we cannot see all consequences of any action, we cannot know for sure that what we’re doing is the best course of action…all we can do is make our best judgment and act.

It’s so easy to get stuck in analysis paralysis where we weigh up and try to measure and predict what might happen if and when we act, but the truth is we don’t know what will happen. It all depends on so many factors. So why bother over-analysing? Just act! Then you will find out what happens when you make that move instead of trying to guess!

There are of course some times when deliberation, pondering and mulling are called for. There are even times when the best thing to do is nothing – when waiting will reveal the right answer. But more often, we hold ourselves back out of fear and indecisiveness, when all we can do is make our best judgement and act.

It comes down to trust…do you trust yourself?

If you do, make your best judgement and act.

If you don’t, make your best judgment and act anyway. You start to trust yourself by following your heart and soul, by honouring your inner wisdom, by acting on what you think is the best course. If you are wrong, you get to learn how to do it better next time. If you are right, you build up trust in yourself. It’s win/win.

Go forth and make your best judgement and act!
