I’ve been inspired this week by the Creative Catalyst Circle – my new Facebook group, and by Allison Crow Flanigan’s “BE Team” group (which is all about pulling back from the insanity of busyness, stress and ‘nexting’) to create this set of creative guidelines:
No pushing.
No striving.
No nexting.
More BEing.
More joyful creation.
More childish glee.
More “look what I did”.
Less “I have only done…”
More “I have made progress”
Less “I’m not finished yet (and I should be)”
Create with joy.
Create for joy.
Create because inspiration moves you.
Let yourself off the hook for your perceived failures of creativity (how can creativity ‘fail’ anyway?)
Be open to resistance.
Be open to ebb.
Be open to flow.
Be open to the need to rest.
Be open to the need to cocoon and love yourself.
Be open to dancing with delight.
Be open to being cracked wide open by your creations.
Be open to loving your creations.
Be open to moments of self-doubt.
Let those moments move through.
Cry.
Realise you’re a fucking genius after all.
Keep creating.
