Who do you want to be? Not a specific who, like ‘Beyonce’ (I mean, who wouldn’t want to be her – girl’s got it going on!), but a type of person ‘who’. Do you want to be light, joyful, happy, peaceful, calm, confident, sexy?
Be that then.
Start now, today to be the person you want to be.
We’re all fond of saying “when x happens, I shall be happier/sexier/more fun/calmer/etc”, but why wait? If you want to be calmer, be calmer today, not when you’re living in a convent. If you want to be happier, get happier today, not when everything in your life is exactly as you want it to be (never gonna happen!). If you want to be sexier, be sexier now, not when you’ve lost x pounds.
It’s like saying “I shall climb Mt Kilimanjaro to get a chocolate bar” – it’s a very long way to go for chocolate…and you’re probably not going to find chocolate there anyway. The convent won’t wash away your hot temper. Trying to keep your perfect life perfect will stress you out. Even after losing x pounds, you’ll still feel very self-conscious in your sexy get up.
If you want to feel happier, what would make you feel happier TODAY?
If you want to feel sexier, what would make you feel sexier today?
If you want to feel free, what would make you feel freer today?
If you want to feel powerful, what would make you feel powerful today?
I know this is the opposite of what we’ve been taught all these years – that to feel a certain way, you have to achieve a certain goal, but conventional wisdom has it backwards, and always has. Feel how you want to feel first, then go for the things you want. It might change what you go for…but who cares when you get to feel powerful, sexy, happy, calm, free, joyful TODAY?!
