Did you catch this week’s Facebook LIVE over on my page Donnaonthebeach about making your dream a reality? (The replay‘s up if you didn’t) The discussion got me thinking more about Big Dreams and making them come true…and it starts with knowing what you want…
What do you REALLY want? What’s your BIG dream? What’s the thing that you’ve always wanted to be, do or have? What’s the thing that would set you happy dancing for a week just at the thought of achieving it? What’s the thing you’ve never told anyone you wanted? What’s the thing that you don’t think is possible (but want anyway!)?
Not your “goal” (unless your goals excite you and make you tigger-wiggle with excitement) – I find most people’s goals are what they think they can have or should want. Yawn.
Too many people go through life with that thing they would love to do or be locked up tight inside them – through fear, or because life got in the way of dreaming, or lack of belief in themselves or their dreams, or lack of inspiration, or some other thing that really shouldn’t get in the way of our biggest dreams.
It is awful that those dreams go unacknowledged, aren’t followed, are left to atrophy in a dim and distant past where we ‘used to have dreams before we realised they won’t come true’. The sad thing is that most dreams aren’t given enough of a chance – they’re cut off in the dreaming stage as impossible, pipe dreams, unrealistic…cos you’ve got to live your ‘real life’, right?
Well, what if dreams ARE real life?
What if those whispers of your heart and soul are just as real as the Job, the Career, the Bills, the Normal Life you were told would make you happy (but somehow doesn’t)? What if those dreams COULD come true if you just followed them?
They can’t come true if you don’t try.
And if you do try, 2 things will happen – one, your dream has a CHANCE of becoming reality. I can’t guarantee success. But that chance is all your dream needs to take you on the adventure of your life…and whether it comes true is really not the point…
Because the second thing that happens is that your life gets better whether your dream becomes reality or not. Going after Big Dreams gives you confidence, it’s fun, it helps to challenge you, stretch you, grow you into the you that you know you were meant to be. That’s what those dreams are for – to help you grow into the greatness that you are!
You are following your passion, your purpose, your heart’s desires – there is nothing more fun in life! To me, that’s the whole point of life – to do things you love to do every day, to honour the whispers of your heart and soul, to acknowledge YOUR dreams, even if it doesn’t work out quite the way you planned (it never does, by the way! Sometimes it’s better).
So let your heart and soul speak.
What is your big dream? What do you REALLY want from your one and only life? All you really need to do is start asking the questions – start your quest for the Golden Chest of Dreams! It’s there. In all of us. For all of us. Simply start asking the questions, looking for answers, expecting to find the buried treasure of your dreams.
They may be hidden away, locked up safe where they can’t disappoint or hurt you…but it’s time to find them, unbury them, let them see the light. Because those Big Dreams, no matter how long they’ve been locked away, will still be calling to you – maybe making you feel there must be more to life, or there’s something missing, or a vague disappointment in life.
No more!
Get yourself on that treasure hunt. You may not find your dreams instantly (it took me years to uncover my Big Dreams) – it can be like an archealogical dig, you just find a corner, then you have to gently excavate the rest! And if you’d like more help excavating those dreams, check out this week’s facebook LIVE post on Donnaonthebeach for a special freebie to help you.
And if you have excavated your dreams, congratulations! You will find some fabulous questions to help you progress your dream in that facebook LIVE video. Because once you’ve found the buried treasure of your dreams, it’s time to make them come true!
